Pantomographic x-ray (panoramic teeth x-ray image, called panoramic x-ray) is commonly known as ‘panorama’ because it enables the assessment of the entire dentition with the temporomaxillary joints and maxillary sinuses. This test is crucial to establish the condition of teeth and to plan treatment. Due to imaging of all teeth with the neighbouring structures it is an exceptionally valuable screening enabling early detection of pathological changes in the mandible and maxilla bones as well as temporomaxillary joints and maxillary sinuses.

Panoramic x-ray image (pantomographic) is essential in implant treatment and often in orthodontic treatment.
