Piezoelectric microsurgery allows orthodontists to move teeth quicker and also to thicken
alveolar bone, which is extremely important for expansion. It also allows braces to work more selectively, for
example by a larger scope of expansion of the upper dental arch on the side operated on, which is very useful in
treatment of side unilateral cross bite. The combination of piezosurgical methods of corticotomy with modern
periodontium plastic surgery additionally allows to cover gingival recessions or prevent their occurrence as
a result of traditional orthodontic treatment.
